According to an article by Cathy Wong,
citronella and other plant-based incest repellents have become a popular
alternative amount people reluctant to use chemical repellents. In a
study int he New England Journal of Medicine, they compared different
synthetic chemical and herbal repellents. Here are the results:
1. Herbal Repellents
Products containing Eucalyptus oils
were the most effective herbal repellents tested. They lasted to
provide protection to up to 120 minutes.
2. Synthetic Repellents
Each year, approximately one-third of the U.S. population
uses chemical repellents containing DEET (N,
N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide) which is an effective agent against
mosquitoes, ticks and flies.
